Made from scratch.
Every day.
Yes! We bake all of our bread fresh every day. Each bakery makes its own bread on site– we don’t refrigerate, freeze, or transport our products. At the end of each day, leftover baked goods are donated to local charities.
Check the nutritional information for each product on the COBS Bread website or ask the friendly staff at your local bakery.
Good news: all of our breads contain no added preservatives, and our healthy breads contain no added sugar or dairy.
COBS Bread supports a healthy lifestyle by offering a broad range of products that contribute to healthy living. These vary from Chia Bread which is a source of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids to our Whole Wheat range is made with whole grain whole wheat flour to our unique High Fiber white bread.
COBS Bread’s health commitment can be demonstrated through the range of health attributes exemplified by our product range. Not to mention promotion of a healthy lifestyle both in our bakeries and out in the community.
COBS Bread considers appropriate portion sizes of sweet and savoury snack items when developing new products.
Our breads should be stored at room temperature in a plastic bag, bread bag, or well-ventilated bread bin to prevent the bread from drying out.
Crusty loaves and rolls, such as Pane di Casa, are best stored in a paper bag and eaten fresh on the day they are baked.
We recommend that you not store bread in the fridge as it will dry out.
All breads from COBS Bread are suitable to freeze and can be stored in the freezer for up to four months. Simply place the bread in a freezer bag, remove as much air as possible and seal the bag.
To thaw, remove the seal and leave the bread to defrost naturally in the packaging. Alternatively, remove the bread from the bag, wrap in a paper towel and place in the microwave. Microwave the bread on high for bursts of ten seconds, but be careful not to overheat the bread.

To revive the crust on bread, pre-heat an oven to 400oF/200oC. Place the bread on a rack in the oven. Heat the bread for 6 to 8 minutes. This will gently warm the bread and make the crust lovely and crunchy again. Microwaving is not recommended for reviving bread.
Some foods like peanuts, tree nuts, milk, eggs, and sesame– can cause allergic reactions in some people.
We use the following ingredients in our bakeries:
We don’t use eggs in everything, but some products like pastries and Brioche do contain them. There are also some bakeries who have opted out of carrying tree nuts. Please consult your local bakery. For specific product information, take a look at our product ingredient lists and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have specific questions or concerns.
We use wheat-based flour at COBS Bread, so all of our products contain gluten. While our Product Team is always trying new ingredients and flours to meet customers’ needs, we can’t guarantee that any breads will be gluten-free in the future.
Without yeast, we wouldn’t have the fluffy loaves we all know and love. Yeast ferments sugars and produces a gas that lets the bread rise.
We only have two types of products that don’t contain baker’s yeast: our scones, which are leavened with baking powder, and Pain au Levain, which is leavened with wild yeast and natural starter.
Many of our breads– including our savoury pullaparts, rolls, scones, croissants and danishes– contain ham, bacon, eggs, cheese, milk and/or butter.
But most of our fruit breads are vegan, and so are any of our breads that contain the word ‘traditional’ in the name. According to our suppliers, any emulsifiers used in our products are vegetable-based.
The rennet in cheese may come from animals or vegetables. Feel free to ask us if you have questions about a specific product.

COBS Bread as a company doesn’t currently deliver, but some of our bakeries have independently partnered with delivery services. Ask a staff member the next time you visit your local bakery, or check on a bakery’s location page.
We are always implementing ways to reduce our carbon footprint on the environment, and helping to create a positive impact on our planet.
We are constantly reviewing the equipment we use in the bakery to see if there are ways to provide the same quality of product using more energy efficient equipment.
LED lighting is a powerful energy saver. We are committed to using LED in all our new bakeries as they open, and converting all lighting in every COBS Bread bakery by 2025.
You can purchase a reusable bread bag at participating COBS Bread bakeries. For every purchase, $1 will be donated to Breakfast Club of Canada to support a country where all children can access the nourishment they need to succeed.
Many of our bakeries are in shopping centres with central waste management facilities. We encourage both our Landlords and our franchise partners to recycle by communicating our sustainability goals.
Our goal is to only provide recyclable packaging at our bakeries by 2025. We regularly review our packaging for opportunities to improve, and have tasked our supplier partners to help us achieve this goal. Please consult your local municipality for recycling information since recycling varies from region to region but please take a moment to review how to recycle our current packaging.
Our wax paper, the baking cups on our Cinnamon Buns and the molds we use to bake our Brioche are compostable.
We use #4 LDPE Low-density Polyethylene bags and #5 PP Polypropylene bags in our bakeries. Please consult your local municipality for recycling information about these bags.
Our paper bags are recyclable, or compostable when food-soiled, however, please remove and discard the BOPP plastic film from the baguette bags.
Our boxes are made from recycled fibre and can be recycled or compostable when food-soiled, however, please remove and discard the BOPP plastic film that is on the windowed boxes.
